That was hilarious and mostly accurate. He even got the West Country accent right.

You can tell the guy isn’t an idiot, but he sure can can play it up a little for extra effect.

I never put ice in anything but water, but virtually everyone else here does. That just means you get less Coke and it tastes bad after 15 minutes. I don’t understand it at all.

Here’s one to add to the list: Regardless of time of day, there is always an old man in the corner of the pub, reading the newspaper. His drink of choice? Lager.

That is exactly my logic.

My rule of thumb is NEVER drink anything cold that you couldn’t also drink at room temp.

That’s one way to know if you’re just using the cold to cover up the horrible taste :D

Ice belongs in flat water and sodas. This is a fact and any continent believing otherwise is doing it wrong.

However, ice does not belong in fizzy water. That's just gross.

Just water for me, otherwise you’re watering your drink down.

Out of a fountain that’s my rule of thumb, but if anything is room temp, I put ice in it.

Considering that the sun blazes down here (in Texas) hot enough to bake a pan of cookies on your car dash and our summers are in the triple digits with 90%+ humidity — yes, ice ALL THE BEVERAGES.

Not if the beverage was cold to begin with, you’ll get minimal water mixing and end up with a bunch of ice left over (to crunch on as well if you’re an ice muncher...and we even make ice meant for munching). Ice allows you to maximize the time enjoying it or increase the serving size while still enjoying it at its optimal flavor temperature.

I do agree though, putting room temp soda over ice ends up with a nasty watered down drink.

Side note: if you ask Europeans for ice in your drink they give you like two measly cubes. This is not correct, it should be ~1/3 of the glass. I always ask for a cup of ice on the side to avoid this.

The best thing that ice does to fizzy water is that it helps dilute the fizzyness. I also prefer my fizzy water flat.

In my neck of the woods, it’s a pint of bitter and a packet of Seabrooks crinkle cut crisps with a dog by his feet with it’s own bowl.

Totally with you there. Americans are crazy with their ice in drinks obsession. I don't like ice in my drinks...

That logic doesn’t always work, see California.

I aspire to get that man one day, although I’ll probably alternate between a glass of Scotch and a Pint of bitters depending on the time of day day.

There is no way to verify with any certainty since many states don’t register and some don’t require background checks. But the sheer amount of legislation there makes it much more onerous to obtain them.
